Top Christmas Travel Destinations for Last Minute Luxury Escapes

As Christmas fast approaches, it’s not too late to book that dreamy, festive holiday you’ve yearned for all year. Here at Deal Zippy, there are enough daily deals to satisfy everyone with a luxurious range of last minute holiday deals around the UK or somewhere slightly more exotic. For those seeking the perfect last minute Christmas destination, here are a fair few ideas of where to go this festive season.

Glencoe

Glencoe, Scotland

It’s a wonderful time of the year to visit the quaint Scottish Highlands thanks to its breathtaking scenery and selection of charming cottage houses to really invoke that traditionally festive feel. Due to its northern climate, there’s always a great chance of snow, though it is not guaranteed, and can contribute to that perfect Christmas spirit you were seeking. With reasonable weather, the surroundings make it perfect for those who either wish to stay in and sit by the fire or for those who want to get out and remain active.

Barcelona Spain 2011

Barcelona, Spain

Branch out a little bit and enjoy a sunny and warm Christmas in the coastline metropolis that is Spain’s gorgeous Barcelona. Packed with extreme, fanatic culture and vibrant colours, Barcelona is definitely a hands-on city which will allow you to really enjoy a Christmas unlike any other you have experienced. There won’t be a white Christmas during your visit, but the traditional fiestas and street parties that go on during the holiday will be worth getting involved in and it’s likely you’ll pick up a fair few things on the market.

London, England

London, England

Sometimes the very best option is to stay at home and England’s eclectic capital city is the cream of the crop in that respect. With the bustling, crowded streets and shops lavishly decorated, the lights will instantly promote that perfect feeling and the sights and sounds of London are always worth a visit, from Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament to the gorgeous scent of Camden Market. With London promoting cheaper prices and great accommodation, there’s no reason not to look to the capital for a last minute, relaxing break.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Great deals can be found for those who wish to just pop over the Channel to the Netherlands and enjoy a quaint, charming Christmas in mainland Europe. The Dutch go all out and the Christmas festivities usually start in mid-November so you can be sure that quite a party will be going on when you arrive. Amsterdam is not a large city but it is a very beautiful one, providing enough services and amenities for everyone this Christmas as well as being incredibly easy on the eye, enhancing the experience massively.

Tenerife’s top 4 luxurious resorts

For most people, Tenerife holidays are all about sunshine and relaxation. That’s why I think it’s important to find a really luxurious hotel to stay in while you’re there – after all, you might as well make the most of your trip!

To help you get an idea of what’s available, you’ll find a quick introduction to the island’s top four luxury resorts below.

Iberostar Grand Hotel Salome

First up is the Iberostar Grand Hotel Salome. Situated on the ever-popular Costa Adeje, this five-star establishment has a great location in between two of the resort’s top beaches. Since no children under the age of 14 are allowed, this hotel is particularly perfect if you fancy a quiet getaway or a romantic break with your partner.

The fact that it’s child-free is not the only thing that makes it ideal for couples. Since it’s nestled in an impressive 60,000 sq metres of landscaped gardens, there’s a real sense of privacy and seclusion here. If you’re planning a romantic trip, taking an intimate walk together in the grounds at dusk is really lovely – especially since you can hear the sound of waterfalls nearby.

As you’d expect of a luxury hotel, there are lots of great amenities, including a spa, tempting restaurants, a pool and a gym. Plus, if you choose to stay here you’ve got the option to go all-inclusive, which is particularly handy if you’re hoping for a stress-free break.

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria

Another resort on the Costa Adeje, the Hotel Jardines de Nivaria offers a brilliant mix of modern facilities and decor with good old fashioned hospitality. Like the Iberostar, this hotel’s home to some gorgeous landscaped gardens – and plenty more besides.

A nice touch to the rooms here is that they all either have a balcony or terrace, which I think are great for making the most of the good weather. Thanks to the long list of things you can do here – playing tennis or squash, swimming and hiring bikes, to name a few – this destination is particularly good for those of us who like having a few activities to try while on holiday.

An added bonus for families is that there’s a decent children’s play area, so it’s suitable for any holidaymakers who are trying to achieve that (often tricky) balance of luxury and practicality.

ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort

For our next top hotel, we’re moving away from the Costa Adeje and on to Guia de Isora. One of the best things about the ABAMA Golf & Spa Resort is its location. Situated on a cliff-top, it’s got some truly staggering views and, since its set in lush green gardens, it’s going to be a clear winner for anyone keen to stay somewhere scenic.

I think this is also going to top the list of anyone looking for the ultimate luxury accommodation, since it’s home to facilities like an 18-hole golf course and the Michelin-starred M.B. Restaurant. There is also an excellent spa, seven swimming pools – including an adults-only pool – and a host of other luxurious facilities.

Hotel Botanico

The final establishment to make our top four is the Hotel Botanico in Puerto de la Cruz. This is another destination with a pretty amazing location, this time on a hillside with glorious sea views, as well as vistas out to Mount Teide.

What’s really nice about this hotel – aside from its beautiful botanic gardens, that is – is that it blends western and eastern themes to come up with something that feels really unique and special. If you stay here, you absolutely must indulge in a treatment in the Oriental Spa Garden – you won’t regret it!
