Project Your Best Self When Traveling

When you’re traveling the world, you want to give the world a good impression of you. You want to personality to be readily apparent from your mannerisms and your fashion choices, so that you seem approachable and friendly. After all, you travel as a representative of your country when traveling abroad, in a sense, and you want that representation to be a positive one. Here are just a few ways to project your best self when traveling.

For starters, be hygienic. It goes without saying to an extent, but we’ve all gotten out of bed in the morning and just didn’t feel like doing the work of looking your best on that particular day. However, when traveling, be sure to fight that urge to settle for less. Looking bright eyed and bushy tailed sends the right signals to strangers who can only form their impression of you visually in just a couple of seconds.

Another important factor in making a good impression is your body language. Practicing proper posture, for example, makes you more approachable. Most importantly, though, you need to be relaxed. Humans are very good at reading the moods of others based on body language, so staying calm and collected will read positively with people you meet.

Lastly, there’s your wardrobe. Again, we all have those days when we don’t even feel like getting out of our pajamas when we go out. And, that’s fine, really, but when you’re trying to impress, make sure to dress well. Don’t wear offensive T-shirts, even if the offense is mild, as you never know how it might be perceived by members of a different culture. Make sure to keep your clothes clean, and try to avoid wearing damaged clothing, as well. Even if it’s a fashion statement, it may appear to be a sign that you don’t take care of yourself, and that leaves a nasty taste in people’s mouths, Also, considering trying a new look. Retailers like Torrid can help you put together a new look at a discount. Now, get out there and travel the world, knowing you’ll make a great first impression on whoever you meet.
